ZINOTIC ES is a new topical agent indicated for the treatment of common infections of the outer ear canal and for the associated pain and itch.

ZINOTIC ES was recently introduced to provide healthcare professionals with the flexibility needed to address the varying levels of pain, inflammation and skin damage experienced with AOE.

About ZINOTIC ES

ZINOTIC ES contains three unique ingredients designed to effectively treat AOE infections while addressing the pain and restoring the damaged lining of the ear canal—all with one simple solution.
ZINOTIC ES contains the maximum recommended dose of pramoxine HCl and a higher level zinc acetate dihydrate than original strength ZINOTIC.

Chloroxylenol is a non-antibiotic, broad spectrum antimicrobial agent, which has been found to eradicate a wide variety of pathogens, including bacteria, fungi (including yeast), and the “superbug” MRSA. Data has demonstrated the effectiveness of chloroxylenol against gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, both of which are the two most common pathogens found to cause acute otitis externa.

Pramoxine HCl is a proven pain reliever that works to rapidly relieve the pain associated with AOE within 2-6 minutes of application. The duration of pain and itch relief achieved with topical application of pramoxine is dependent on how much is applied and the amount of time that it stays in contact with affected tissue.  Therefore, ZINOTIC ES contains a higher concentration of pramoxine to help provide an increased degree and duration of pain and itch relief associated with AOE.

Zinc acetate is a unique agent and effective skin protectant. It is well recognized that zinc plays an important role in various aspects of skin function, including “morphogenesis, repair and maintenance, and protection or defense.” Clinical studies demonstrate that zinc concentrations in skin could be increased eightfold by topical application of zinc.  Importantly, higher concentrations of topical zinc yield greater absorption and increased concentrations of zinc in the skin, providing an increased level of healing and protection to the external auditory canal.  New ZINOTIC ES contains a higher concentration of zinc acetate dihydrate than original strength ZINOTIC.

ZINOTIC ES is a unique product and is available by prescription only.  ZINOTIC ES is available at all retail pharmacies throughout the US.

ZINOTIC is not an antibiotic and  does not contribute to bacterial resistance.

Applying ZINOTIC ES

Before applying ZINOTIC ES, the person giving the drops should wash his/her hands. The person receiving ZINOTIC ES should have the external ear canal of the infected ear gently cleansed and dried with a clean cotton applicator.

The person receiving ZINOTIC ES should lie on their side with the infected ear facing upward.
Gently squeeze the appropriate number of ZINOTIC ES drops into the affected ear. Try not to touch the tip of the applicator.
The person administering ZINOTIC ES should gently pull the outer earlobe upward and backward. The patient should lie with the affected ear upward for 5 minutes.

These steps will help ZINOTIC ES penetrate the ear canal.
